Updates from the Sheriff’s Office
The mission of the Camden County Office of the Sheriff is to provide a variety of law enforcement service and support using state of the art technology in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner to the residents, visitors and various agencies and departments throughout the County of Camden, the State of New Jersey and the United States. The staff of 194 includes the Sheriff, 1 Undersheriff, 131 Sheriff’s Officers, 5 Sheriff’s Investigators, 20 Sergeants, 5 Lieutenants and 2 Captains. There are 29 civilian staff.
The primary functions performed by the Sheriff’s Office are mandated by statute. They include responsibilities in both civil and criminal areas of the law including:
- Court Security Bureau
- Investigations Bureau
- Bureau of Criminal Identification
- Civil Process Bureau
- Transportation Bureau
Ancillary services also provided by this Office include:
- Probation/Child Support Units
- Technical Service Unit (Bomb Squad)
- Canine (K-9) Unit (drug and bomb sniffing dogs)/Patrol Division
- Camden County Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T)
