Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.)

The Camden County Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) is committed to providing the best specialty unit support available to the communities of Camden County. S.E.R.T. has been in operation since 1983 and has conducted over 1,600 successful missions. The Team is available to respond anywhere within the County twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The objective of S.E.R.T. is to provide communities the ability to respond to unconventional incidents in a coordinated manner without unduly depleting local law enforcement’s ability to respond to routine calls for police service. Our primary mission is the preservation of life through proper tactics, training, experience and resource deployment.

The S.E.R.T. Team is comprised of Tactical Team members, Bomb Technicians, Tactical K-9 Teams and Crisis Negotiators. Depending on the assignment, the units can function independently or as one highly trained team. The team is trained and equipped to respond to a wide array of extraordinary emergency incidents. According to Federal standards, the S.E.R.T. Team has a Type I rating, the highest rating awarded, and is the only Type I team in Camden County. This organized and highly-trained division is available to all Camden County law enforcement agencies upon request. Requests should be made directly to the Sheriff’s Office at (856)-225-5285 or by contacting Central Communications at (856) 783-1333.
