Meet Our Camden County Family Engagement Specialist:
My name is Amy Schmidt, and I am the Family Engagement Specialist for the Camden County Department of Children’s Services. I am happy to assist and support our families by providing them with information and resources available in Camden County and NJ. Please contact me to learn more about the following:
Books, Balls and Blocks:
Through funding from the NJ Division of Family Development, we offer free developmental screenings to all
children ages 5 and under. Through our Books, Balls and Blocks events, we partner with peer agencies to
provide opportunities where parents can engage with their children and observe them at play through various
activities. The screenings are implemented using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire which is a valid and
reliable way to measure your child’s developmental milestones.

Parent Cafes:
Parents have an opportunity to connect with each other, share experiences and resources, and support and
listen to other families with similar successes and challenges.
Child Care Resources and Referrals:
Contact our FES for information on the NJ Child Care Assistance Program, for help locating a quality child care
provider, or any additional resources that can help support your family.
NJ Child Care Assistance Program Orientations: for participating families, these monthly meetings offer the
opportunity to discuss:
- important guidelines and parent requirements for NJCCAP.
- the various parent resources and opportunities that we offer through our agency.
- your needs as parents. You will have the opportunity to share concerns and resources with other
families in our Camden County community.
