Statement in Regards to Hate Crimes Targeting Asian Americans

“In light of the tragic attacks in Atlanta, Georgia, the Camden County Board of Commissioners is expressing its unwavering support of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. While the specific motivations of the suspect in yesterday’s events are still unknown, these attacks are yet another in an unnervingly long line of recent incidents of anti-Asian violence and bigotry. No one should be made to feel unsafe or unwelcome because of their race, ethnicity, or nationality in our community. The evil of racism has no place in our society and should be condemned outright. We stand in solidarity with every Asian resident in the county, state and nation to underscore our uncompromising commitment for everyone to live in a safe and welcoming neighborhood. Hate continues to have no home in Camden County for our diverse and inclusive community and we will continue to face racism, bigotry and xenophobia head on wherever it rears its ugly head.”
