The statement below is by Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. on behalf of the Board of Commissioners regarding Gov. Phil Murphy signing legislation to extend outdoor dining.
“This morning, Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill to extend permissions for restaurants, bars, distilleries and breweries to serve patrons outdoors in private areas, on sidewalks and in other designated outdoor areas. These permissions were set to expire in November but will now be extended by two additional years. This expansion will positively impact these businesses, which is desperately needed after the COVID pandemic has taken such a heavy toll on the restaurant and hospitality industry.
As we saw over the last two years, our restaurants are a vital part of our economy and a staple in our everyday lives. By investing in the success of these businesses, we are strengthening our economy and our market for small businesses. Gov. Murphy has proven once again that he is an advocate for small businesses and is fighting for their ability to thrive, which the Camden County Board of Commissioners applauds him for.”
