(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, has been informed by South Jersey Gas that it is beginning Phase 4 of its Camden County Upgrade Project. Work has already begun on Laurel Road (CR 673) in Somerdale and will continue to take place Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. until the end of the phase.

Starting this week, the Phase 4 detour plan will be in effect for approximately four weeks. Traffic will be directed as follows:

Northbound on Laurel Road (CR 673):

  • Turn right onto Chews Landing Road (CR 683)
  • Turn left onto W. Park Avenue (CR 696)
  • Turn left onto E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727)
  • Turn right onto Laurel Road (CR 673)

Southbound on Laurel Road (CR 673):

  • Turn left onto E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727)
  • Turn right onto W. Park Avenue (CR 696)
  • Turn right onto Chews Landing Road (CR 683)
  • Turn left onto Laurel Road (CR 673)

Traffic will remain open at all times on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727) in both directions.

“This is phase four of a larger project that will expand throughout the area and last several more months before being completed,” Shin Angulo said. “Motorists should try to stay up to date with when new phases will begin and plan their routes accordingly. Extra congestion and shifting traffic patterns can be expected while work is underway.”

During Phase 4, Laurel Road will close from E. Atlantic Road to Chews Landing Road, allowing local traffic only until work is complete.

The Camden County Upgrade Project will improve gas lines in the area to enhance service reliability, especially on the coldest days of the year when gas use for heating is at its peak. Precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Information regarding the project, detours, and completion dates will be periodically updated online at https://www.southjerseygas.com/construction.
