(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, has been informed by South Jersey Gas that it is beginning Phase 3 of its Camden County Upgrade Project. Work will continue on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727) in Somerdale Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Beginning on Dec. 4, the Phase 3 detour plan will be in effect for approximately four weeks. Traffic will be directed as follows:

Northbound on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727):

  • Turn right on Laurel Road
  • Turn left on North White Horse Pike (US 30)
  • Turn left on Gloucester Pike (CR 659)
  • Turn right on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727)

Southbound on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727):

  • Turn left on Gloucester Pike (CR 659)
  • Turn right on North White Horse Pike (US 30)
  • Turn right on Warwick Road
  • Straight onto Stone Road
  • Turn right on E. Atlantic Avenue (CR 727)

Traffic will remain open at all times on Laurel Road in both directions.

“This is phase three of a larger project that will expand throughout the area and last until the early months of 2018,” Shin Angulo said. “Motorists should try to stay up to date with when new phases will begin and plan their routes accordingly. Extra congestion and shifting traffic patterns can be expected while work is underway.”

Beginning on Dec. 11, the project is also expected to extend to Davis Road for milling and paving from the White Horse Pike to E. Atlantic Avenue. The road is expected to close between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day while the work is underway. During Phase 3, the intersection of E. Atlantic Avenue and Evergreen Road will also be closed for a new service installation to the Somerdale Pump Station.

The Camden County Upgrade Project will upgrade gas lines in the area to improve service reliability, especially on the coldest days of the year when gas use for heating is at its peak. Precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Information regarding the project, detours, and completion dates will be periodically updated online at https://www.southjerseygas.com/construction.
