Public Service Recognition Week

“Yesterday kicked off Public Service Recognition Week, a celebration dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve our nation as public employees. As elected officials, we have the pleasure of witnessing county employees’ tireless service and its impact every day. Camden County could not be the incredible place that so many call homes if not for the men and women responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of government programs and services.

The coronavirus pandemic put incredible pressure on public servants to act, and we are extremely proud of the effort this team put together for the health and safety of our residents. In just one year, the men and women responsible for protecting Camden County’s most vulnerable stood up testing and vaccine sites, delivered meals to seniors’ homes, set up drive-thru food drives for those in need, monitored businesses for price gouging on critical items, and much, much more.

When life as we knew it was turned upside down, Camden County’s public servants put in hour after hour to ensure a comprehensive suite of responses. Whether working from home or out in the field at one of our testing or vaccine sites, they stepped up, took on new responsibilities, and changed lives for the better.

Public service is always commendable, and not a year has gone by that we did not feel grateful for the employees who are charged with maintaining the daily operations of an effective government. But for all they have done this year, we are especially thankful and excited to celebrate this week with them.”
