(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Barbara Holcomb, liaison to the Department of Public Works, has been notified by South Jersey Gas, that crews will be conducting a jack and bore as part of the gas main renewal project on Pennington Avenue in Winslow Township beginning Monday, June 1, and continuing through Friday, June 5. The project is expected to require the complete closure of Pennington Avenue between Maple Avenue and South 2nd Avenue during daily work hours.

“Road closures can affect not only the immediate stretch of roadway, but traffic throughout the surrounding area as well,” Holcomb said. “This closure will be in effect for several days, so it is important for motorists who typically drive through the area to be familiar with this project and the associated detours. If you have to drive through the construction area, always be extra vigilant for sudden stops, shifting traffic patterns, and any crews, debris, or vehicles that may end up in the roadway.”

Beginning at 7 a.m. on June 1, Pennington Avenue will close to all traffic between Maple Avenue and South 2nd Avenue. The road will reopen each day at 5:30 p.m. Signage will be posted to direct motorists along the detour route utilizing Bates Mill Road, Southard Avenue, and South 2nd Avenue.

This project is scheduled to be completed by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5. Scheduling and project timing is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events.
