(Camden, NJ) – The Camden County Workforce Development Board is connecting teens and young adults with work opportunities for the summer. The Summer Youth Employment Program, currently accepting applications, aims to place 16- to 24-year-olds into a variety of openings for eight weeks between June and August.

Eligible county residents should contact the Board to request an application by calling (856) 751-1500 or emailing receptionist@ccwib.com.

“This is a chance for youths and young adults to earn valuable work experience during the summer, and it couldn’t come at a better time as our state looks likely to reopen amidst the pandemic, as well as when employers throughout the country are reporting difficulty finding staff,” said Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Camden County Department of Economic and Workforce Development. “After a year marked by job losses and cutbacks, this is a great chance to make some extra money while adding to your resume. If you do not have work plans for the summer, now is the time to apply.”

In order to be considered eligible for the program:

  • Participant must be a Camden County resident.
  • Must be willing to participate in a structured professional environment.
  • Must be available to fully complete, with no vacation time off, an 8-week program.
  • Submit application and required documents by May 21, 2021.
  • Participate in a virtual interview via Zoom.
  • Attend a mandatory virtual evening orientation on June 14, 2021 or June 15, 2021.

Each intern will receive a stipend equal to $12.00 per hour. Applications are due Friday, May 21, at 4 p.m. More information regarding the Workforce Development Board or economic and workforce development can be found by visiting the county webpage here.
