ONDCP Director Dr. Gupta Met with Leaders on Front Lines of the Overdose Epidemic

On Wednesday, Feb. 22, Camden County welcomed Dr. Rahul Gupta, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. Gupta to meet with local public health leaders providing treatment and life-saving care to people with substance use disorders and law enforcement officials working to thwart illicit drug trafficking.

“We are excited to have Dr. Gupta here in Camden County to see all of the efforts we’re putting in to knocking out the opioid epidemic,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “In order to make an impact on this crisis we have to work together on a local, state and federal level and meetings such as this are a good way to ensure that we’re all on the same page.”

Gupta discussed President Biden’s State of the Union address where he highlighted key actions to advance his Unity Agenda plan to beat the overdose epidemic, the Administration’s National Drug Control Strategy and steps taken to expand access to care for substance use disorder, reduce the supply of illicit drugs like fentanyl, and get states across the country the resources they need to respond to the crisis.
