(Camden, NJ) – On Sunday, March 10, the Camden County Office of Veterans Affairs will host Empower Her – Addressing the Needs of Female Veterans, a panel discussion that highlights the unique experience of women who have served in the military and what can be done to ensure these veterans receive the care and resources they require. The event will be held at the Collingswood Ballroom at 12 PM.

“The experience of women in the military is a distinct one; it is one that can differ vastly from their male counterparts,” said Commissioner Melinda Kane, liaison the Office of Veterans Affairs. “Sunday’s event is an opportunity for women to come together to discuss what it means to be a female veteran and what we can do as a community to better serve them in terms of medical care, mental health support and trauma informed care.”

The panel will discuss the stigma of being a woman veteran, whole health wellness and self-care, and veteran trauma. The attending panelists for the event are Dr. Shelby Munschauer, clinical psychologist and military sexual trauma coordinator, Vanessa Jenkins, vice commander of the American Legion Camden County Committee, Monique Holmes, women’s health and wellness coach for the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center, and Sonyaa Kitchen, veteran outreach program specialist at the Center City Vet Center.
