Eight New COVID-19 Caused Deaths Announced in Camden County

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – The Camden County Department of Health is announcing eight new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 103 additional cases confirmed between Saturday, Aug. 1, and Monday, Aug. 3. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 8,964 in Camden County today and 546 total fatalities.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these most recent victims. Every life lost to this virus is a tragedy, and we are wishing a fast and full recovery to each of our residents who recently tested positive for COVID-19,” said Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Our statewide transmission rate is much higher than it has been for several weeks, signaling that this virus is once again beginning to make its way through New Jersey communities at a dangerous rate. We have to do everything in our power to stop coronavirus from regaining a foothold in our community. Keep wearing a mask, social distancing, and avoid gatherings with large groups of people.”

 

The Department of Health is announcing 103 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

 

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 1,340 confirmed resident cases and 512 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 8,964 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 311 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as three staff deaths, out of our 546 total fatalities countywide.
