Today, July 13th, the Board of Commissioners joined elected officials and community partners to launch the Camden Loop, an on-demand micro-transit service for the city of Camden that uses software to fill critical transportation access gaps and expand upon the city’s existing public transit options. The initiative operates like other ride sharing programs with cost effective pricing for trips throughout the city and other key locations.

“Easily accessible and quality transportation is vital to any community” Commissioner Melinda Kane said. “The Camden Loop is a transformative venture that will give the residents of this city more options to access the communities within and beyond the city limits which will inevitably have a positive impact on things like the regional job market and economy as well as roadway congestion and more.”

Camden Loop will be available on demand Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for $2 per ride and $1 for each additional passenger.

The Camden Loop has already served nearly 3,000 rides and was created to achieve the following:

  1. Increase access to transportation and job opportunities
  2. Improved connectivity to other modes of transit
  3. Enhanced access to supermarkets in food deserts
  4. Decreased single-use vehicle usage and congestion
