Camden County Public Works Crews on the Job

(Lindenwold, NJ) – As a wintery mix of snow, ice and sleet continues to move through the region, Camden County’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is still working to treat streets and ensure that the county’s 1,200 lane miles of road are safe and passable for motorists.

Temperatures are set to drop well below freezing this evening, which will create an extensive amount of ice throughout the county. All 12 snow districts will be occupied by crews salting problem areas, but we are urging residents not to travel unless absolutely necessary after sundown.

“Overnight, we received a fair amount of snow and sleet and DPW workers were dispatched early Monday afternoon to prepare the roads ahead of this storm,” Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the DPW. “We have deployed our crews to 12 maintenance districts with over 100 pieces of equipment to maintain the roads and crews will remain on the job into this evening as the winter weather will continue throughout the day.”

“Our crews will be working on the roads to keep them as safe and passable as possible, but conditions are set to become slick this evening,” Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to the DPW. “So, if you do not have to travel on the roads this evening, please stay home but if you must drive, please just take your time, be aware of the conditions and slow down.”
