31 New COVID-19 Caused Deaths Announced in Camden County

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – The Camden County Department of Health (DOH) is announcing 31 new deaths caused by novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Camden County, as well as 171 additional cases of the disease. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 34,607 in Camden County today and 896 total fatalities.

“We continue to join the community in placing the families who have lost a loved one during this pandemic in our thoughts and prayers,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “Today we learned that the fast-spreading UK variant of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in New Jersey for the first time. While this variant hasn’t been found in Camden County yet, we must prepare for the possibility that it will. Remember that even if this variant is no more deadly, an exponential growth in cases would lead to countless more deaths. We must continue to wear masks, social distance, and strictly adhere to other mitigation tactics to protect ourselves and those around us.”

 

The Department of Health is announcing 171 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

 

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,163 confirmed resident cases and 1,181 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 34,607 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 427 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as four staff deaths, out of our 896/ total fatalities countywide.

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.

Residents should call 9-1-1 during emergencies only, for those with questions or concerns related to the coronavirus, call the free, 24-hour public hotline at 2-1-1 or 1-800-962-1253, or text NJCOVID to 898-211. Residents should also download the COVID Alert NJ mobile application on their Apple or Android device where they can view the latest information regarding COVID-19 in the state and be notified of potential exposures to the virus.
