(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr., has been notified by NJ American Water that crews will be installing a water main on 27th Street in Camden beginning Friday, April 3. The project is expected to require the complete closure of 27th Street between Marlton Pike and the three-way intersection of 27th Street, Baird Boulevard, and Federal Street.

“This is the beginning of a long-overdue rehabilitation for 27th Street,” Cappelli said. “These critical repairs and improvements are continuing at this time, and any residents still traveling frequently should be aware of how this closure may impact their route. As always, take extra care if you are traveling near construction crews or vehicles, and be cognizant of sudden stops and shifting traffic patterns in the surrounding area.”

Beginning at 7 a.m. Friday morning, crews will close 27th Street to all traffic between Marlton Pike and the three-way intersection with Baird Boulevard and Federal Street. Posted detours will direct motorists to utilize Baird Boulevard, Marlton Pike, and Federal Street to circumvent the construction area. The roadway will re-open each day at 4 p.m.

This project is scheduled to be completed by 4 p.m. on Thursday April 23. Scheduling and project timing is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events.
