13 New COVID-19 Caused Deaths Announced in Camden County

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – The Camden County Department of Health is announcing 13 new deaths caused by COVID-19, as well as 91 additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed between Saturday, May 22, and Monday, May 24. This brings the aggregate number of confirmed positive cases to 49,133 in Camden County today and 1,203 total fatalities.

“Even with vaccinations increasing, COVID-19 is still finding ways to devastate our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with these 13 most recent victims and their families,” said County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. “We are continuing to bring the vaccine into the community and schools to get our residents, students, and teachers protected from this disease. After more than a year of fighting this pandemic we are finally turning the corner, but we have to get the ball across the goal line.”

 

The Department of Health is announcing 91 additional positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) identified in Camden County. Trace investigations are being facilitated with the patients and remain ongoing.

 

To date, 463,279 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Camden County. There 262,433 people with at least one dose, and 220,256 who are fully vaccinated.

In addition, the county Department of Health is also announcing 2,362 confirmed resident cases and 1,386 staff cases have occurred out of the aggregate case load of 49,133 in our 56 long-term care facilities. At this time, 462 resident deaths have been reported from these facilities, as well as seven staff deaths, out of our 1,203 total fatalities countywide.

 

The county Health Department is currently working to trace close contacts of these newest cases. The investigations are still ongoing, and we will update the public with new developments as the information is gathered by our investigators.
