(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, has been notified by Conrail that crews will be upgrading a railroad grade crossing at the intersection of Warwick Road and East Atlantic Avenue in Somerdale/Magnolia beginning Monday, August 5. The project will require a full closure of the intersection.

“Multiple projects will be taking place on the roadway at the same time for a period of this project, resulting in additional potential hazards for motorists to be aware of,” Shin Angulo said. “Motorists must be extra careful when approaching and driving through the construction area, and should always remain alert for crew members, construction vehicles, and other debris in the roadway.”

Beginning Monday, August 5, Warwick Road and East Atlantic Avenue will be closed to thru traffic between Evesham Road and Somerdale Road. The intersection will be completely closed. Motorists will be directed along a posted detour route.

South Jersey Gas will also be replacing a gas main on Warwick Road in Magnolia beginning on Monday, August 5. The project will not require any additional closures as South Jersey Gas will utilize the same detour plan put in place by Conrail. This replacement is scheduled to be completed by Friday, August 9.

The closures are expected to be in place until Conrail completes its project on Friday, August 26. Scheduling and project timing is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events.
