(Cherry Hill, NJ) – To help keep Camden County clean, the Freeholder Board is continuing to host Stewards of Open Space Cleanups into the fall. On Saturday, Nov. 4, volunteers will meet once again, this time behind Campbell’s Field, to work together to keep the riverfront clean. Volunteers will be out from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. cleaning the waterfront and working to preserve the area.
“Anybody who wants to come lend a hand can let us know by visiting online and registering for the event,” said Freeholder Bill Moen. “We provide volunteers with tools and gloves, so that they already have everything they need by the time they get here.”
Throughout the summer, volunteers would meet at Stewards of Open Space cleanup events throughout the county to maintain the cleanliness of our beautiful open spaces and parks. This year, the group has already teamed up to tackle Atco Lake, Lake Worth, and New Brooklyn Park.
Volunteers are provided all of the tools and resources they need to participate when they arrive. Waterproof boots or similar attire is recommended for the waterfront cleanup.
“So far, we’ve had more than 275 volunteers sign up to help us on these cleanups and that number keeps growing,” Moen said. “The Stewards of Open Space have removed more than 70 tons of litter and debris from our parks so far. That work is a huge part of why the county’s open spaces continue to look so good. It’s something that anybody can get involved with and results are right there before your eyes.”
