The statement below is by Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. on behalf of the Board of Commissioners regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The events that have unfolded in the Ukraine over the last 24 hours has been nothing short of horrifying and appalling. Watching thousands of innocent civilians be caught in the crossfire of a completely unprovoked attack is a helpless, heart wrenching feeling that the European continent has not seen in 80 years. This heinous attack, waged by an autocratic tyrant, Vladimir Putin, who is running nothing short of kleptocracy, and the Russian government, cannot go unpunished. For the senseless killing this war has already wrought upon a free nation, Putin and his cronies should be arraigned as war criminals, at the Hague, no different than Slobodan Milosevic. The Board of Commissioners vehemently condemns this lawless invasion of democratic nation and stands firm with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters who call Camden County their home. The Board also stands with President Joe Biden, his administration and our country’s foreign allies as they navigate their response.”
