(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, has been notified by the Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) that crews will be retiring old gas service at 4 Church Road in Merchantville on Friday, March 15. The work will require a partial closure of Church Road’s southbound lane between Maple Avenue and Haddonfield Road.
“This area sees a lot of peak hour traffic, and the closure may affect some commuters’ typical routes,” Shin Angulo said. “Motorists should leave extra time on their commutes and plan to take advantage of the posted detour if necessary. Anytime a project requires the closure of a roadway you can expect increased congestion, shifting traffic patterns, and other changing conditions in the area.”
From the hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. crews will close a portion of Church Road’s southbound lane at the intersection of Church Road and Maple Avenue. Motorists will be directed along a posted detour route utilizing Maple Avenue and Haddonfield Road to circumvent the affected area.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of work hours on Friday. Scheduling and project timing is dependent on weather and may be adjusted due to unforeseen events.
