Michael and Kathleen Van Stine have spent a decade transforming the lives of veterans in Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties through their tireless leadership of the Spectracare Foundation and the Carlton R. Rouh Veterans Center in Lindenwold, New Jersey. Their unwavering dedication exemplifies the highest standards of service, compassion, and community upliftment, making a profound impact on countless veterans and their families. The Carlton R. Rouh Veterans Center, named after Lindenwold’s Medal of Honor recipient from WWII, serves as a vibrant and welcoming center for veterans. It is a place where veterans can relax, socialize, learn, share, teach, and inspire one another in a warm environment that promotes growth and healing.
Michael and Kathleen have overcome significant challenges to deliver life-changing programs that address the complex needs of veterans. These include equine therapy, healing arts, photography, arts and crafts, gardening, cooking classes, Coffee & Conversations on Thursdays, Mental Health First Aid classes in partnership with the Mental Health Association in New Jersey, and the Keeping History Alive initiative, which has been featured on ABC and NBC. These innovative programs provide veterans with alternative methods for dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges that may arise after their service.
Through their leadership, Spectracare Foundation has served countless veterans and continues to expand its reach as veterans share their experiences with others in the community. Their efforts have fostered a culture of “veterans helping veterans and civilians helping veterans,”creating a powerful network of support that ensures no one is left behind. Michael and Kathleen have also built meaningful partnerships with organizations such as the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Camden County Veterans Outreach and Advisory Committees, Korean War Veterans Association, Forgotten Angels, Paws Healing Heroes, and the Rotary Club of New Jersey. These collaborations enhance the foundation’s ability to provide educational information, vital resources, and services to veterans throughout the communities. Michael and Kathleen’s work has saved lives, given hope, and formed a place where veterans share camaraderie with one another. Their commitment to service stands as a testament to the enduring strength of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom while uplifting others.
