To promote safe bicycling this summer, the Camden County Freeholder Board’s Division of Highway Traffic Safety hosted a bike rodeo in conjunction with Cross County Connection, Safe Kids Southern NJ and Brain Injury Alliance NJ on Saturday, August 19th.

“We want to make sure that the children in our community not only know how to ride their bike, but that they know how to do it safely,” said Freeholder Jonathan Young, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Safety. “We invite all our kids to bring their bikes and have some fun while we show them the rules of the road.”

The day featured a meet and greet with Camden County Police Department officers, face painting, refreshments and a D.J.  There was a helmet fitting stations, bicycle fit advice, the ABC’s of bicycling, and an obstacle course.

Von Nieda Park is one of the 21 parks that comprise the Camden County Park System.  It contains baseball and softball fields, basketball courts and a .33 mile bike path in Camden City.
