(Blackwood, NJ) – The Camden County Health Hub will be administering the first doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine today for children from six months to four years old. This is the last segment of the population to get the vaccine and will expand the vaccination rate in the Camden County to our highest levels. Based on U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s emergency approval this past weekend parents have signed up and will be getting their first dose at the Camden County Health Hub.

“I think parents of young children everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief,” said Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. “It’s been a long road of exercising extreme caution and waiting for the green light to vaccinate this age group, but today is finally the first day they are eligible. This gives us the ability to be one giant step closer to a post-pandemic world. Now it’s important to recognize that these children under age 4 who receive the Pfizer vaccine will be given three doses at one-tenth the strength of adult doses. We know that vaccines are our best tool to fight against this insidious virus and now some of the most vulnerable will be able to be protected. So, if you are the parent of a child in this age group, please consider getting them vaccinated.”

Last month, the Health Hub began administering booster shots to children ages 5 to 11. All adults and children ages 5 to 17 are all eligible now eligible for their booster shots.

“To receive the full protection of the vaccine, you need that third dose,” Cappelli continued. “Especially for those young children, it’s crucial that they are completely up to date with their vaccinations so please, make an appointment for a first, second or third dose at the Camden County Health Hub by visiting www.CamdenCountyVaccine.com.”

This week’s vaccine hours are:

  • 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday
  • Closed Friday
