Strength and Hope: Shared Experiences of Addiction and Recovery

The Camden County Board of Freeholders, Camden County College and Camden County Addiction Awareness Task Force Presents “Strength and Hope: Shared Experiences of Addiction and Recovery”, a six-part educational series for addiction professional and aspiring addiction counseling professions.
 
All workshops will take place at: 
Camden County College, in Taft Hall on the Blackwood, New Jersey 
In the Presentation Room 2nd floor 
Workshops start at 6:00pm
 
 
October 18, 2017 Session: Randy Brooks Miller, RN-BC
Topic: The Families Role in Recovery:     
This workshop will provide a framework for families who have loved ones that have a substance use disorder. Best Practices and available resources will be discussed. In addition, the unique needs of parents whose children may develop or struggle with substance use and addiction will be discussed.
 
AboutRandy Brooks Miller, RN-BC

Randy has over 30 years’ experience in both Mental Health and Addiction. Currently she is the Mental Health Nurse Liaison and Family Program Liaison and Advisor for the Lighthouse Recovery Institute. She is also a Peer Group Facilitator for the NJ State Nursing Association Recovery and Monitoring Program. In addition, she is a respected educator for professionals, community members, and families.  Aside from Randy’s strong clinical background, she is also the mom of a young adult with Substance Use Disorder who has been in long term recovery for over 6 years.  Randy is especially passionate about supporting other families on this difficult journey.  She is very comfortable sharing her experience, strength, and hope with family members. Randy truly understands the critical importance of a parallel recovery program for family members.
