Camden County College is pleased to offer a FREE five-lecture series on Refugees and Migration starting September 11 through October 30. The lecture series is co-sponsored by the American Research Institute in Turkey, the University of Pennsylvania Middle East Center, and hosted by The Center @ Camden County College. October 2 – Displacement and Migration in the Eastern Mediterranean during the 19th/20th century.
Professor Gratien examines why the history of the Ottoman Empire is critical to understanding the history of global migration and politics surrounding immigration and refuges in the US, Europe, and beyond. Professor Gratien is an Academy Scholar, Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies and Professor in the Corcoran Department of History, University of Virginia.
