Her America: 5 Women Artists Who Defined 20th Century Art
Event Navigation
Join The Center at Camden County College for the lecture series “Her America: 5 Women Artists Who Defined 20th Century Art” with Monica Zimmerman on Tuesdays at 7 PM at the Collingswood Community Center.
This week’s artist is Louise Nevelson. With her monochromatic, monumental, carved-wall pieces and sculptures, Louise Nevelson laid the foundation for the feminist movement in art. Her large-scale works used a puzzle-like construction of found materials, particularly wood, in assemblages and installations that forced the mid-century art world to examine basic notions of femininity and masculinity in aesthetics.
