CENSUS 2020 NJ: Count All Kids

It is important to engage New Jersey’s early learning programs, the families and children they serve and their communities to share vital information about the upcoming U.S. Census. New Jersey receives $22.7 billion in annual funding from the federal government for programs including but not limited to, NJ FamilyCare, child care, Head Start, WIC, SNAP, school lunches, housing and highway construction. This funding relies on Census population counts!

This training will provide you with an overview of the Census including why it is important, and more technical aspects of Census operations. We will also discuss the difficulties in obtaining a complete count, both for the population at large and for young children. We will then discuss what you can do, as early childhood pro- fessionals to ensure all young children and their families are counted. All participants will be given tool kits, activities and other resources to share the Census message with families, as well as become designated Census Ambassadors.
