Week 4: Art Therapy for High Functioning Autism
Alexandra Back, M.A., ATR-BC, LPC is a board-certified art therapist and licensed professional counselor. Alexandra currently serves as the Director of Creative Arts Therapies at CNNH, an outpatient neurology center in Voorhees, NJ. Alexandra works with both individuals and groups and utilizes an eclectic, patient-centered approach to her work. This presentation will identify the role of Art Therapy in treating psychosocial and emotional needs of individuals with HF ASD. Learn about what Art Therapy is, what it’s not, why art-making can be a critical element to a therapeutic relationship for an individual with ASD, what qualifications prospective patients can look for in seeking work with an Art Therapist, and about Art Therapy services available currently at CNNH.
