The Department of Public Works will be performing emergency construction on two compromised culverts located off of Haddonfield-Berlin Road better known as Route 561 in Cherry Hill. The project will commence at 7 a.m. tomorrow closing two of the four lanes in both directions going east and westbound. The work will be done during day time hours and will cause extra congestion during rush hour traffic in the morning and afternoon.
“Motorists need to be mindful of the construction crews working in the roadway and look for alternate routes that bypass this location.” said Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Throughout the day, while driving on Route 561, please stay prepared for traffic pattern changes and sudden stops. If you plan on driving through the area give yourself extra time to get to your destination.”
Starting at about 6:45 a.m. lanes will start to be tapered down to one from Walt Whitman Boulevard outside of the Downs Farms neighborhood and stretching past the swim club to Cranford Road. Drivers should look for alternative routes around the construction zone if possible and be mindful for school drop-offs and pickups. Lanes will reopen at 4 p.m. each day of construction.
At this juncture construction is slated to be completed on Friday, but could be extended depending on weather conditions and other unforeseen issues.
