(Pennsauken, NJ) – Later this month, Camden County will host the 2023 NCAA Women’s Rowing Championship in partnership with Temple University. This announcement comes just one week after the county welcomed thousands of athletes and spectators to the Cooper River for the 84th annual Dad Vail Regatta.
The event will be held on Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken. The championship is composed of six teams and the institutions selected to compete are: Cal Poly Humboldt, Central Oklahoma; Embry-Riddle (Florida), Thomas Jefferson University, Seattle Pacific; and Western Washington.
“We are honored to welcome another major rowing event to our renowned rowing venue here on the Cooper River,” said Commissioner Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department. “The Olympic-distance, 2000-meter narrow and sheltered straightaway that we have at Cooper River Park makes this location one of the best in the world. We cannot wait to welcome the athletes and fans to Camden County.”
Cooper River Park encompasses 346 acres through Pennsauken, Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Haddon Township. In addition to the boathouse, the park’s amenities include: a children’s playground with pavilions, a softball field, a cross country course, the Camden County Golf Academy, the Cooper River Yacht Club, two bike trails, Jack Curtis Stadium, a track, picnic areas, a bocce court and more.
