(Camden, N.J.) – The Board of Commissioners continued its Summer Concert Series with two performances this week, in celebration of Juneteenth.
Monday’s Sunset Jazz Series show, starting at 8 p.m., featured Marshall Charloff & the Purple Xperience at Wiggins Park in Camden. On Saturday, Jazz musician, Fostina Dixon & Wings of Change performed at Peter Volpa Memorial Park in Winslow Township at 7 p.m.
- Marshall Charloff & the Purple Xperience is one of the premier Prince tribute bands, paying homage to the late singer.
- Fostina Dixon & Wings of Change is a multi-instrumental, solo jazz act who has toured at several venues throughout the Northeast.
“Juneteenth is a day of celebration, liberation, and freedom,” said Commissioner Ed McDonnell, liaison to the Department of Events and Community Outreach. “We are excited to bring the community together to celebrate this incredibly important holiday with two wonderful concerts headlined by world class African American artists.”
Admission to all shows are free and all are welcome to attend.
Juneteenth is a day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas on June 19th, 1865.
