On Wednesday, Commissioner Al Dyer joined Olympian Joetta Clarke Diggs, Camden City Mayor Victor Carstarphen and members of the Camden Community Partnership to discuss the $100,000 grant from the Horizon Foundation of New Jersey that will be put towards improving the health and welfare of youth and families in Camden City.

“For decades I’ve been involved in youth athletics and recreation in Camden City and I can tell you this funding will go a long way to create new initiatives in our parks and athletic fields benefiting our community,” Commissioner Al Dyer said. “These funds will go towards tackling big issues in the city, such as obesity, will aid in addressing the social determinants of the health of our residents and enrich the lives of our children in our greenspaces.”

The funds will work in tandem with Mayor Carstarphen’s Youth Athletics & Fitness Initiative, which is designed to ensure that Camden City youth have access to athletic activities.

The grant announcement will be followed up by the signature event Family Fun & Fitness Day, which will be hosted by Joetta Sports and Beyond on Saturday, July 30th. For more information please visit www.ctlcamden.com
