“The Camden City community has been crushed with the sudden passing of Don Polk this week. As a Board, we are shocked to lose someone in the city that dedicated his life to the selfless endeavor of serving the youth through his foundation Below the Rim. The 1989 Camden High School standout and Rutgers-Camden college player discovered at an early age that he wanted to mentor kids and that basketball was the best vehicle to drive that dream. Don was a proponent of taking care of and supporting residents through adversity and mentoring young men and women through the game of basketball. His legacy will be carried on the shoulders of the thousands of youth Don worked with over the course of his career. He has left large shoes to fill in the city and our thoughts and prayers are with his family right now in their most difficult time.”
