Camden County Road Crews on the Job

(Lindenwold, NJ) – As snow is falling across the region, the Camden County Department of Public Works (CCDPW) is working to keep 1,200 lane miles of roadways passable.

“Today’s system is forecasted to deliver between 2” and 4” of snow accumulation by mid-afternoon. Motorists should be prepared for slick road conditions as snow continues to fall,” said County Commissioner Al Dyer, liaison to CCDPW. “Snowfall is expected to be moderate to heavy in intensity throughout the remainder of the morning before slowing and tapering off this afternoon.”

More than 100 pieces of equipment and 100 employees have been deployed from the Public Works complex in Lindenwold to Camden County’s 12 winter maintenance districts. The county’s response plan calls for crews to be dispatched only to the zones where they are needed.

“Any significant snow event brings with it the risk of downed trees, branches, and power lines. Please report any outages you experience to your utility company,” said County Commissioner Jonathan Young, liaison to the Office of Emergency Management. “We strongly recommend that everyone to stay off of the roads as county personnel work to keep them clear.”

In the event that the weather causes downed trees and isolated power outages, please remember to immediately call your utility company so they can identify the location and coordinate crews to restore your power. Any storm has the potential to bring down trees and power lines, so residents need to be extra cognizant of any power failures.
