(Lindenwold, NJ) – Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo has been informed by South Jersey Gas that it is now in the final phase of the Camden County Reliability Project, a five-mile system upgrade to its local distribution system. Laurel Road, from E. Atlantic Avenue to Chews Landing Road, has reopened to all traffic today.

“Laurel Road will remain closed from Chews Landing Road to Blackwood Clementon Road in Gloucester Township until mid-June when construction and paving is expected to be completed,” said Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works. “Please give yourself extra time to reach you destination due to the detour and increased traffic in the area.”

The Camden County Reliability Project began in the fall of 2017 to improve service reliability in portions of Camden County that would otherwise be vulnerable to customer outages on peak demand days – the coldest days during the heating season. Three pressure regulating stations along the route are also being upgraded as part of the project.

This is the final traffic detour, designated as Phase 6, which directs motorists as follows:

Northbound from College Drive to Laurel Road (CR 673):

  • Turn right on Blackwood Clementon Road (CR 534)
  • Turn left on Forrest Avenue
  • Turn left on Chews Landing Road (CR 683)
  • Turn right on Laurel Road (CR 673)

Southbound on Laurel Road (CR 673):

  • Turn left on Chews Landing Road (CR 683)
  • Turn right on Forrest Avenue
  • Turn right on Blackwood Clementon Road (CR 534)
  • Turn left on College Drive (CR 673)
