The Camden County Freeholder Board is accepting nominations for the 2017 Camden County Sports Hall of Fame through March 10.

“The Sports Hall of Fame was created by the Freeholder Board in 2005 to honor the achievements and contributions of athletes, coaches and officials who have brought lasting fame and recognition to Camden County,” Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said.  “The local sports legends are honored each fall at the annual dinner and induction ceremony.”

Nominees to the Hall of Fame must fall into one of four categories: athlete/player, coach, official or contributor. Athletes cannot be nominated until at least ten years after they graduate from high school. A coach or official cannot be nominated until they have at least twenty years of service if currently active. The nominee can be living or deceased.

All nominees must also be of good character and have demonstrated the qualities put forth by the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee reserves the right to disqualify any nominee they determine acted in any way to hurt the sport for which they are recognized.

“The Hall of Fame is a celebration of competition, endurance and sportsmanship, and those who led their teams to the pinnacle of success,” Cappelli said. “Every year it is an honor for the Freeholder Board to shine the spotlight on some of the best athletes our county has to offer.”
