Metro Division Employment Fact Sheet

The Camden County Police Department is now accepting applications. In order to apply, interested candidates must complete the following prior to completing the application.

  1. Possess a current letter from their family physician indicating the applicant can perform all functions associated with that of a fully sworn police officer.
  2. Due to overwhelming expressions of interest, fingerprint capturing will now take place at the Camden County Hall of Justice. Current and former law enforcement officers, SLEO-II, alternate route, and laid off police officers applicants ONLY must call toll free: (866) 40 METRO or (866) 406-3876 Monday through Thursday 10:00 a.m. to noon to schedule an appointment. Non experienced and civilian position applicants must call the above number Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to schedule appointments. Upon completion of the fingerprint process, a receipt will be issued to participants to include in their application packet. Current Camden Police Department applicants will be fingerprinted at Camden City Police Headquarters.
  3. Provide a current resume.
  4. Camden County will require a driving abstract, which will be obtained by the CCPD.

Applications can be submitted in person or by certified mail at the Camden County Department of Police Services, 6 Collier Drive, Blackwood, NJ 08012, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applications for the “Metro Division” will be accepted from November 1, 2012 through January 15, 2013.ALL submitted applications must include doctor authorization and fingerprint processing receipt, no exceptions.

Selected applicants will then undergo a four step selection process:

Comprehensive background investigation

  1. Oral Interview board
  2. Medical examination
  3. Psychological evaluation

Successful completion of steps one and two will result in a conditional offer of employment. Successful completion of steps one through four will result in a final conditional offer of employment subject to Freeholder Board approval.

Initial “PTC Certified” applicants will be required to successfully complete agency orientation and field training programs.

Salaries are as follows and are grouped in ranges to accommodate the qualification and experience levels of all qualified applicants.

Patrolman: Salary range from $47,177 to $ 87,409

Sergeant: Salary range from $91,835 to $102,927

Lieutenant: Salary range from $106,470 to $116,630

Captain: Salary range from $118,656 to $130,032
