DWI Mock Crash Program Information
The DWI MOCK CRASH REENACTMENT Program
aims to educate teens about the dangers of getting into a car under
the infulence of drugs and/or alcohol. Underage youth continue to
be over-represented in alcohol-related crashes. Southern New Jersey
SADD, MADD, and high schools have requested the creation and implementation
of an educational program to address this important problem during
prom and graduation time. NHTSA statistics do show that May through
July are leading months for alcohol-related car deaths of young
people ages 15-20.
This program has been used as a model by many New Jersey Schools
as an effective and economical way of educating their students during
the high risk time of proms and graduations. The program also has
been used for Career Development, Traffic Safety Education, and
for the expansion of Students Against Drunk Driving chapters. Durign
the 1996 program year over 1,500 students participated in the Mock
Crash Program in Camden County alone.
