James F. D’Angelo
Chief of Police
The primary function of the Camden County
Park Police (856-309-0006) is the protection of life
and property within the Camden County Park system. This system consists
of over 4,000 acres of parkland and waterways spread throughout
12 municipalities. They also patrol the Lakeland Hospital Complex
in Blackwood.
The police handle thousands of calls each year, ranging from minor
incidents to major crimes. They are also responsible for traffic
control and enforcement along the 26 miles of roadway that runs
through the park system. Major events include the annual 4th of
July celebrations at both Cooper River Park and Wiggins Park along
with the numerous concerts held at both locations. Because of their
countywide police powers, the County Park Police are often called
upon to assist municipal police when the need arises.
At this time, the department consists of 21 sworn officers, dedicated
to providing 24 hour patrol coverage for the citizens of our county.
The main headquarters is located in Lindenwold at the Camden County
Communication Complex. They also employ the use of two sub-stations,
one at the county hospital complex in Lakeland and the other at
Wiggins Waterfront Park, located in Camden City.
