Days Benefit the Environment
For Immediate Release: March 20, 2008
Contacts: RON TOMASELLO
“Improperly disposed of household waste becomes
an environmental pollutant,” said Freeholder Jeffrey L. Nash,
the Freeholder Board’s liaison to Environmental Affairs. “Each
year, Camden County’s Special Household Waste Collection Program
keeps over 400,000 pounds of hazardous material from the county
waste stream.”
Camden County offers the following ways to help
your family stay clean and green:
March
29 – Household Special Waste Collection Day – 8:30 AM
to 3:00 PM
Cherry
Hill Public Works Complex, 1 Perina Drive, Cherry Hill
Household Special Waste is any material discarded
from the home that poses a risk to human health or the environment.
Camden County residents are asked to keep the environment healthy
by bringing oil-based paints, solvents, thinners, pesticides, herbicides,
gasoline, kerosene, polishes, photographic chemicals, automotive
batteries, antifreeze, brake fluid, transmission fluid, other car
products, pool chemicals and cleaning fluids to convenient drive-through
disposal sites.
April
12 – Electronics Recycling Collection – 8:30 AM to 12:30
PM
Camden County Public Works Complex, 2311 Egg Harbor Road, Lindenwold
Recycling your electronics keeps dangerous materials
such as lead, mercury, cadmium and chromium from being released
into the environment. The following items can be brought to the
electronics collection at no charge to Camden County residents:
computers, keyboards, VCRs, scanners, DVD players, tape players,
monitors, stereo equipment, typewriters, printers, TVs, laptops,
modems, telecommunication equipment, fax machines, mousse, radios,
telephone and answering machines.
April
19 – Document Shredding Day – 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Camden County College, CIM Parking Lot, Peter Cheeseman Road, Blackwood
To help in the fight against identity theft, the
Camden County Freeholder Board is sponsoring a free shredding day
for Camden County residents wanting to destroy documents containing
personal information. To date, enough paper has been recycled to
save over 1,100 trees. Industrial size shredder trucks will be on
site to destroy private documents while residents watch. No businesses
are permitted, and a limit of 175 pounds of paper per household
is requested.
