CCC LAUNCHING COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM FOR HIGH-SCHOOLERS IN CAMDEN
For Immediate Release: January 27, 2010
Contacts: Coulby, Susan

Camden County College is partnering with the Camden City Board of Education to offer a new postsecondary readiness program to juniors and seniors enrolled in Camden City School District high schools.

Students who participate in the program will have the opportunity to explore career paths and earn three to six college credits, which are transferable from CCC to most colleges and universities in the United States, at no cost to the students or their parents. All tuition, fees and textbook costs – which normally would total $600 to $1,200 – will be covered by the program. Advisement regarding academics, attendance and goals also will be provided to participants.

Courses that will be available through the program will include “Basic Psychology,” “College Success,” “Computer Literacy,” “Introduction to Management,” “Introduction to Nutrition” and “Principles of Marketing.’

An information session will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28, in the auditorium of Camden High School, which is located at 1700 Park Boulevard. Refreshments will be served.

“Camden County College has a long history of providing high-quality and affordable educational courses for students throughout New Jersey,” said Margo Venable, CCC’s director of college/high school partnerships. “Our goal with the Camden Postsecondary Readiness Program, is to provide students with a head start toward college, create a seamless transition to postsecondary learning and promote self-discovery of career interests.”

For more information, contact CCC’s Division of School and Community Academic Programs at (856) 227-7200, ext. 4530.
