Freeholders’ Traffic Safety Task Force Give Towns Non-Projectile Pedestrian Signs
Back-to-School Safety ProgramThe Camden County Traffic Safety Task Force distributed new “Yield to Pedestrians” signs to each of Camden County’s municipal police departments. The non-projectile signs are designed to safely withstand an impact from an automobile without endangering nearby pedestrians or other vehicles.
“Pedestrian safety is one of the most important areas of traffic management,” said freeholder Rod Greco, liaison to the Camden County Traffic Safety Task Force. “These signs will improve the safety of residents when deployed in high traffic areas across the county.”
In its eleventh year, the sign giveaway takes place before the start of each school year. Police departments are encouraged to deploy their pedestrian signs in high traffic areas and near schools. The Camden County Traffic Safety Task Force sponsors programs to promote pedestrian safety, occupant protection and bicycle safety. The Task Force also implements programs to safeguard the public against impaired driving and road rage.
