20th Anniversary of ADA

“Twenty years ago, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Edward T. McDonnell.  “Since that time, public access for individuals living with disabilities has greatly improved, and the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability has been firmly established.”

To celebrate the 20thanniversary of this historic act, the Camden County Freeholder Board and the Camden County Division of Senior and Disabled Services will present a program at Camden County College’s Camden campus entitled “Moving Forward” on July 26.

“The program will honor the individuals that fought hard to bring about this legislation,” said Freeholder Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to the Division of Senior and Disabled Services.  “That dedicated and persistent group also worked to implement the intent of the law over the past 20 years, continually enriching the lives of those living with disabilities.”
