MEDIA INFORMATION
June 1, 2006
Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Mount Ephraim
Police Chief Edward C. Dobleman reported that a borough woman was
charged with Terroristic Threats today, accused of threatening to
kill several students at Mary Bray Elementary School in Mount Ephraim,
N.J.
Denise
Gallagher, 35, was issued a summons and released. Case screening
is scheduled for June 9 in Superior Court in Camden.
Investigation
indicates that Gallagher’s child attends the school and has
had ongoing problems with several other students. It is alleged
that Gallagher stated yesterday that she would go to the school
and “kill all those kids one by one.” An adult witness
heard the alleged remark and reported it to school officials at
approximately 9 a.m. today.
School
officials notified Mount Ephraim Police, who commenced an investigation.
School officials placed the building on “modified lockdown”
status – meaning students were kept inside for recess and
gym class – until Gallagher was arrested a short time later
at her home.
No
weapons were found on the defendant or in her home. Terroristic
Threats is a third-degree charge carrying a maximum prison term
of five years upon conviction.
All
persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a court of law.
