Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Camden Police
Executive Robert L. Stewart reported that a 16-year-old male was
shot to death this morning by a suspect who entered his home in
Camden, N.J.
An
unknown intruder shot Shadeed N. Burke inside his family’s
home in the 1100 block of Kenwood Avenue at approximately 8:20 a.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital at
8:30 a.m.
Preliminary
investigation indicates that the intruder entered the home and proceeded
up the stairs to the second floor, where he confronted Burke and
shot him. The suspect then fled the scene. Investigators believe
the crime was not random, but that the intruder specifically targeted
the residence. Additional details are being withheld to preserve
the integrity of the investigation.
No
arrests have been made. The shooting is under investigation by the
Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden Police.
