CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
JAMES P. LYNCH, ACTING CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION

May 11, 2006

Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Camden Police Executive Robert L. Stewart reported that a 16-year-old male was shot to death this morning by a suspect who entered his home in Camden, N.J.

An unknown intruder shot Shadeed N. Burke inside his family’s home in the 1100 block of Kenwood Avenue at approximately 8:20 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital at 8:30 a.m.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the intruder entered the home and proceeded up the stairs to the second floor, where he confronted Burke and shot him. The suspect then fled the scene. Investigators believe the crime was not random, but that the intruder specifically targeted the residence. Additional details are being withheld to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

No arrests have been made. The shooting is under investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Camden Police.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit at (856) 225-8400 or Camden Police detectives at (856) 757-7420.
