CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
JAMES P. LYNCH, ACTING CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR
MEDIA INFORMATION

May 1, 2006

Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and James Plousis, U.S. Marshal for the District of New Jersey, along with Camden Police Executive Robert L. Stewart, announced that officers today arrested the man accused of fatally shooting a nightclub bouncer last month in Camden, N.J.

Darnell M. Cloud, a.k.a. Darnell McCloud, 26, is charged with Murder in the shooting death of Curtis Jackson, 32, on April 15, 2006, outside the Café II nightclub on Ferry Avenue. Members of the U.S. Marshal’s New Jersey/New York Regional Fugitive Task Force, along with officers from the Paulsboro Police Department, arrested Cloud at approximately 2:30 p.m. today at a friend’s residence on Spruce Street in Paulsboro, N.J.

Cloud, whose last known address is on Kenwood Avenue in Camden, will be sent to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending an arraignment expected to be scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, May 2, at the Camden County Hall of Justice, 5th Street & Mickle Boulevard, Camden.

It is alleged that the defendant was one of a number of nightclub patrons who assaulted Curtis Jackson as he tried to break up a fight inside the club at approximately 2:30 a.m. on April 15. It is further alleged that, during a confrontation with the victim a short time later in the parking lot, Cloud pulled a handgun and fired multiple times in Jackson’s direction. Cloud then allegedly entered a parked vehicle and sped away.

Jackson was one of several men working security at the club. He was struck in the head by a bullet and collapsed in the parking lot.

Lynch thanked and commended the Fugitive Task Force and Paulsboro Police for their efforts in taking the defendant into custody without incident.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
