MEDIA INFORMATION
April 27, 2006
Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch reported that a teenager
was waived to adult court today and is being held in lieu of bail,
charged with Murder and Attempted in connection with a double shooting
in November 2005 in Camden, N.J.
Victor
Lopez, 18, was charged in January as a juvenile because he was 17
at the time of the shootings. Today, Judge Angelo DiCamillo, of
the Family Division of Superior Court in Camden, waived Lopez to
adult court and ordered that he be transferred to the Camden County
Correctional Facility. Later today, the defendant was arraigned
before Judge Linda G. Baxter, Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division
in Camden, who set bail at $400,000, cash or bond.
Lopez is charged with Murder in the death of Glen Ross, 33, and
Attempted Murder in the shooting of a 30-year-old man who suffered
gunshot wounds to the shoulder and abdomen. The shooting took place
in the 1100 block of Morton Street in Camden. Investigation indicates
the two victims were seated in a Jeep parked on Morton Street at
approximately 8:20 p.m. on Nov. 7, 2005. It is alleged that Lopez
approached on foot, fired at the victims from close range, and fled
on foot. The motive has not been clearly established.
All
persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless
and until proven guilty in a court of law.
