Acting Camden County Prosecutor James P. Lynch and Winslow Township Police Chief Anthony Bello reported that they met today to discuss the ongoing investigation into threats of violence at Winslow Township High School. As has been previously reported, four individuals are charged and are in custody in connection with this matter.

Although the investigation is continuing and circumstances can change at any time based on new information developed, additional arrests are not expected at this time. Those individuals which the investigation has implicated as involved in the conspiracy have been charged and are incarcerated. There are no plans to charge any additional defendants at this time.

Investigators from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office have joined with Winslow Police in following up investigative leads, conducting interviews and gathering additional evidence.

Lynch and Bello expressed satisfaction with the pace and scope of the investigation.

“We are working hard, along with the Prosecutor’s Office and school officials, to safeguard students, teachers and staff,” Bello stated. He noted that supplemental police officers have been assigned to the High School and Middle School and that the atmosphere at the schools is calm.

Lynch and Bello spoke today with Interim Winslow Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Schreiner to keep him apprise him of the status of the investigation. Dr. Schreiner pledged that school officials would cooperate fully with law enforcement.

“I am confident that the schools will be able to carry out their educational mission as the follow-up investigation continues,” Lynch said.

Lynch and Bello commended the Winslow Police personnel for their tireless efforts over the past three days. They also thanked Prosecutor’s Office personnel who have assisted in the investigation, including Victim-Witness advocates who helped notify the 25 individuals identified as potential targets.

All persons charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
